On 4 September 1975, Gazit signed the interim agreement between Israel and Egypt in Geneva, alongside Major General Herzl Shafir. The list of signatories is preserved in the Security Council’s records, and the UN Secretary-General’s report of that day confirms the signing date.
A diplomatic agreement also needs maps, schedules and instructions for implementation. According to the UN Secretary-General’s report, the military working group concluded its discussions on 22 September, when Gazit and Herzl Shafir initialled the implementation protocol and maps on Israel’s behalf. Taha el-Magdoub signed for Egypt.
